Weight Loss in LA

The entertainment industry likes to portray Los Angeles as a city full of beautiful people. Stick thin models and actresses and buff actors fill our screens, giving the impression of an unrealistically gorgeous population where normal joes have no place. But the truth is that there are plenty of men, women, and kids living in Los Angeles that struggle with their weight. That "fat farm" in Los Angeles that you’ve been reading up on isn’t just full of out-of-towners.

For many Angelinos, spending an eternity on the highways means picking up drive-thru fast food on the way home rather than putting in the time to cook a healthy meal.  Likewise, the astounding number of restaurants available offers constant temptation to indulge, making the need for fitness vacations an all-too-common reality.

Luckily, there are ways to live healthy and lose weight in Los Angeles, even if you’re not planning on enrolling in a weight loss camp in California anytime soon. There are a wide variety of farmers markets available in the area, with most operating year-around. Farmer’s markets are a wonderful place to get fresh produce that will last longer in your home and save you a few dollars over the grocery store. SoCal is also a great place to grow your own produce thanks to the wonderful climate. Look for food co-ops in the area.
