Control your urge to up-size everthing
It is almost summer time again. Tired and hungry, you pulled to a fast food restaurant drive-thru window and yell to an intercom that take your order. You place your order and the voice on the other side taking your order asks “large, medium or small?” It is only a dollar more to up-size your order and you instantly yell back “large.” Ooops! Do you realize what you just did?
An order of large fries is 500 calories compared to 100 calorie small order of fries. A large Coke is 280 calories versus 100 calories for the small. Double quarter pounder with cheese is 750 calories. Your “large” will now add up to a whopping total of 1,530 calories, just from a one drive-thru window experience. This one order equals to your total daily recommended calorie intake.
Consider eating smaller quantities throughout the day instead of eating three large meals a day. It keeps your metabolism working properly and your calorie intake in check. Keep in mind, “small” is good for you. Portion control is always better than occasional splurge. Even fast-food restaurants now serve low calorie options including salads and other meals. Ask for a cup of water instead of a high calorie large soda.
