Diindolylmethane and your health

The compound called Diindolylmethane is found in cruciferous vegetables. This compound is known to be a natural immune system booster. When this compound combines with another compound called Isothiocyanatesm, it becomes such a powerful agent that it can combat lung cancer.

Diindolylmethane or DIM is not recent discovery, but it has found prominence in recent times with collective push towards all things organic. DIM does not have to be extracted from any exotic plants, it can be ingested during your daily meals at no additional cost. All you have to do is eat your Broccoli.

That’s right, Broccoli has found yet another way to torture you, just when you thought you’d seen the back of it after your childhood. Broccoli and its fellow family members (Kale, cauliflower, rapeseed, mustard seeds etc.) are rich in this compound and therefore very beneficial for you. In what can be called a Cancer Prevention Diet, eating sizeable quantities of these vegetables, as close to its raw state as possible, will give your immune system a whole lot of help to fight diseases.

It is important to try and eat them in their raw state as cooking will only break down the DIM compound. If you are interested in consuming these vegetables, look online for some fun recipes that include them. You should also contact your doctor or dietician for advice, before you radically change your eating habits. This could prove to be a crucial factor later on, so do not avoid this.
