Easy Ways to Incorporate More Veggies into Your Diet
If you’re looking for ways to get more veggies into your diet, there are plenty of easy ways to do so. Wesley Virgin, author of Weight-loss Without the Struggle, shares his favorites.
Add a side salad to your meals. “This technique works on two levels. Firstly, you’re more likely to eat your veggies if they’re right in front of you. Secondly, you’ll be taking in fewer calories overall because salads are generally lower in calories than other types of foods.” Wesley explains.
Eat them raw as snacks. Carrots, celery, and cucumbers make great low-calorie snacks. They’ll help to fill you up so you’re less likely to reach for unhealthy processed options.
Try veggie-based soups, stews, and chili. “Soups and stews are great because they’re easy to make in bulk and you can pack them with tons of veggies. And they’re also very versatile. You can make them as hearty or light as you want.” Wesley Virgin says.
Make a veggie wrap for lunch or dinner. This is a great way to sneak in some extra veggies, especially if you’re not a big fan of them. Just add your favorite vegetables to a wrap with some hummus, and you’re good to go.
Add veggies to your morning smoothie. “This is a great way to get in a serving of veggies first thing in the day,” Wesley says. “Just add a handful of spinach or kale to your favorite smoothie recipe.”
Roast them as a side dish. “Roasting veggies is a great way to bring out their natural sweetness,” Wesley Virgin explains. “Plus, they make a great side dish to any meal.”
Eating more vegetables is a great way to improve your overall health. They’re packed with essential vitamins and minerals, and they provide a host of other health benefits as well. So, if you’re looking for ways to eat more veggies, give these tips a try.
